USA Hockey InLine To Require HECC-Approved Helmets For Youth Players
USA Hockey InLine, the official inline hockey program of USA Hockey, today announced that the use of Hockey Equipment Certification Council-approved helmets and facemasks will be required for all youth players in all USA Hockey InLine-sanctioned practices, games and tournaments.
The announcement was made by USA Hockey InLine Director Gary Del Vecchio; USA Hockeys Inline Section Chairperson Mike Lebarre USA Hockey InLine National Referee-in-Chief Ron Foyt and HECC President Dr. Alan B. Ashar .
With HECCs recent recognition of certain inline hockey equipment under its recommended safety standards, USA Hockey InLine has mandated that all youth players (including goaltenders) under the age of 18 will be required to wear HECC-approved helmets and facemasks. This includes players participating in USA Hockey InLine-sanctioned high school leagues. The mandate for use of HECC-approved helmets and facemasks will go into effect June 1 and allows USA Hockey InLine to be consistent with the required safety standards of the hockey industry.
In the interest of safety and proper protection for all of our youth and high school members, USA Hockey InLine has decided to adopt the HECC-approved equipment mandate, said Del Vecchio. We also believe that the recognition of inline hockey by HECC is a tremendous step in the direction of long-term success for this sport.
