Get your ticket to the future of hockey today and be a part of the GTA Bid
Get your ticket to the future of hockey’ is the message being sent to hockey fans and fanatics as part of an aggressive advance ticket sale campaign launched today that will boost the Greater Toronto Area Bid for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship.
If you’re Canadian, you love hockey, says Don Cherry, GTA Bid Ambassador. So I’m telling you to show your support loud and clear and get behind the Bid. Get your tickets now so you can watch the world’s best junior hockey right here, right in our own backyard.
Ticket packages are only on sale for three weeks until December 29, 2003. Hockey fans need to place a deposit now on a ticket package. Fan-backed financial support is critical to the Championship being awarded to the GTA. The revenue generated from the pre-selling of ticket packages will provide the guarantor for the Bid.
There are four packages available. The Toronto package is $795 for 16 games. This includes one Team Canada game and all medal games. A $75 deposit is required. The Brampton, Mississauga and Oshawa packages are $149 for five round robin games, including one Team Canada game. A $25 deposit is required. Purchases can be made through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.ca or 416-870-8000. If the Bid is not successful, deposits will be refunded (less a $2 service charge). Refunds will be issued within 30 days from the Bid decision from Hockey Canada.
For two weeks, audiences worldwide are glued to the television to witness some of the world’s best hockey, says Ernie Coetzee, Co-chairperson, GTA Bid Group. This Championship has become a launching pad for many of hockey’s greatest legends and heroes. For any hockey fan, rink side is where you want to be to see the players and watch history being made.
The GTA Bid Group Inc. is a not-for-profit organization specifically established to bid for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship. The partners include the municipalities of Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and Oshawa; their respective Ontario Hockey League Teams (Toronto St. Michael’s Majors, Brampton Battalion, Mississauga IceDogs, Oshawa Generals); the AHL Toronto Roadrunners Hockey Club; The Hershey Centre; Brampton Centre for Sports and Entertainment; the Oshawa Civic Auditorium Complex; and the new Ricoh Coliseum/National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place.
