Skate & IN-LINE Hockey Facility Opens In Hawaii

Skateboarders and in-line hockey players gathered at the first skateboard park and hockey rink in East Honolulu this afternoon as the City officially opened the gates to the Kamiloiki Community Park Skate Facility. The opening event included a blessing performed by Kahu Leolani Pratt, remarks by Mayor Jeremy Harris and in-line hockey and skateboard demonstrations.

The project, built by PER, Inc., includes new in-line hockey and skateboard facilities, walkways, a small parking lot, and the installation of irrigation and turf. Group 70 International, Inc. was the project consultant. The total cost of the new facility is $1,130,000.00.

The new in-line roller hockey rink includes an ultra-smooth concrete rink slab, dasher board system, ADA accessible perimeter walkways, players’ boxes, scorekeeper’s and penalty boxes, and chain link safety screens and fencing.

The new skateboard facility, includes obstacles of various types, galvanized coping and rails, and perimeter fencing. The skate park was designed with the assistance of the local skateboarding community.
