A new PTx line of performance apparel and protective accessories

Dave Kent, Protex president, announced the exclusive distribution agreement with XO Athletic Company (the firm that has developed and manufactured OEM protective cups for much of the US market over the past decade). Kent described the ProCup as the first breakthrough innovation in athletic cups in over 25 years. Kent went on to say, This new cup design incorporates features that make it ideal for a wide variety of contact sports including soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and hockey. When you wear the ProCup, you get complete protection without the rubbing, chaffing and pinching so common in traditional cup designs. Just think, never again will pitchers have to be concerned with adjusting their cup before the wind up. And soccer players can't believe how they can now get soft cup comfort with hard cup protection. In addition to the new cups, we have designed a new line of cup supports featuring Transpor moisture control fabrics that go beyond wicking to actually keep you continually dry. This means we are able to offer a line that provides the ultimate in comfort and protection with no compromises.

The ProCup product is a patented design that starts with a rigid, anatomically shaped base and covers it with a resilient, impact-resistant outer layer reducing the impact of a blow. The two-shot process creates a cup that provides greater comfort at key stress points under normal use and offers added protection on impact. The emphasis on comfort makes ProCup ideal for all high impact sports that require significant flexibility and lateral movement. This is the right cup for Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Hockey, Lacrosse and Football.

The ProCup product line being marketed under the PTx brand will feature a dramatically new merchandising concept. The packaging and presentation will draw attention to the unique new features of the cups and supports and provide retailers with a hot new technology story in an otherwise basic category.

The PROTEX brand is well known throughout Canada as the premier name in athletic supports and protective accessories, particularly for Hockey. PROTEX has recently launched a full line of performance apparel featuring Transpor Moisture Control Technology under the PTx brand. The ProCup will be a feature component of the PTx brand as that new performance brand is extended into selected athletic cups and supports (the latter featuring the new moisture control technology by Transpor).

Since purchasing the former Protex division of Protexion Products (1997) Inc. about a year ago, and moving the new Protex Athletics Inc. to Cambridge, Ontario, Mr. Kent has entered into agreements with several third party firms that have enabled Protex to enter the mouthguards market, the performance apparel market, and now to significantly bolster the core business with a full line of athletic cups (both traditional and banana-shaped as well as the new ProCup technology).
