Suffolk County Parks SponsorsNHL Street Hockey League

The Suffolk County Parks Division of Sports & Recreation, in conjunction with the New York Islanders and The Long Island Tennis & Sports Foundation, is sponsoring the NHL Street Hockey League for children in grades 1 � 6 , according to Suffolk County Executive Robert J. Gaffney. This six-session program will be held on Monday nights beginning November 10, 2003 at Sweet Hollow Hall in West Hills County Park � Huntington.

This program provides a great opportunity for children with an interest in hockey to learn the game from professional instructors, said Gaffney. Trained instructors from the New York Islanders will be on-hand during each session to provide training and insight into the game.

All equipment including hockey sticks, pucks, balls, goalie protective gear and nets will be provided by the Long Island Tennis & Sports Foundation and The New York Islanders. Each participant will only need to bring their sneakers to play. Every child that participates will receive a medal and an Islanders T-shirt.
